Earthspeak - click for lyrics and the story

(Bonnie Meadow)
November 28, 2005
This is our Mother Earth speaking. She has been around for a very long time, but in the very small portion of that time that has included humans, we have wreaked havoc with the perfectly balanced systems on our planet.

She will survive. We may not.

The last two lines are a tribute to the prayer most central to Jewish teaching, known as the Sh'ma. The chant that runs between and after verses is a Chinook Earth Chant.

I was here when you crawled from the sea
I was here before that
It's always been me
The ice age is recent in my memory
But you, look what you've done to me

I am here, I will always be here
I am your home, your only home
And our Creator is One
And we are One.
